Originally developed in Germany and already established in colder northern U.S. climates, this ultra-efficient building standard is gaining traction in our neck of the woods – and for good reason.

We've expanded our Certified Passive House Tradesperson (CPHT) training with Emu Passive, from one person trained in 2023, to nine in 2024, with more planned for this year. Our recent whole-house renovation project in Oakland is also a perfect showcase for how passive principles can transform existing structures into a high-performance home.
Whether a house is fully certified Passive House or not, the approach behind that certification is applicable to the majority of our projects. That’s why rather than merely meeting the minimum California energy code requirements, we offer many ways to move to a higher building standard for clients who request it.
