Our residential approach means business.
Commercial construction with a home builder’s eye.
The lines between home and office have never been more blurred—and as a growing number of businesses recognize the value in bringing a residential approach to their commercial spaces, they're turning to MN Builders for help. By applying to workspaces the same unique perspective we've honed during four decades in the residential realm, we enable our many commercial and institutional clients to create inviting environments built with both mission and people in mind.
Las Trampas Campus
Lafayette
Las Trampas is a non-profit that does amazing work supporting adults with developmental disabilities, despite a 1960s-era campus that was falling apart. Referred by an architect who admired our approach to getting work done, we guided Las Trampas through the entire first phase of their multi-million dollar project. We demolished three existing buildings and rebuilt them from the ground up, plus added a fourth—providing Las Trampas with the updated classrooms, multi-purpose room, training kitchen, music and dance studios, and administrative offices they need to better serve their clients.
Backroads Bicycle Tours
Berkeley
Backroads Bicycle Tours is a company that cares how employees experience their workplace, so when they recently added a new building to their existing campus in Berkeley, they turned to us to provide the complete overhaul it needed for that “home away from home” feel. New floor-to-ceiling windows provide lots of natural light, while higher ceilings and new finishes help the entire space feel bigger than its actual 4000-square feet. Additionally, a new break room kitchen, complete with commercial-grade appliances and countertop island, provide employees with a warm place to gather, eat, and build community.
Electronic Arts (EA)
Redwood Shores
Another commercial project, but with a twist. EA needed to update its executive wing offices, kitchen, and lounge—but get it all done without disrupting business. That meant keeping our footprint small, our dust to a minimum, and employee safety a top priority. This was no easy task, given the kitchen we helped renovate with customized millwork is located in the middle of a giant, open-air workspace. We love the results, though. Our favorite contribution: a customized digital display wall that showcases EA’s latest products and required seamless collaboration between carpenters, electricians, and EA’s own design team.
Dr. Barry G. Kami, DDS
Berkeley
If there is any business that stands to benefit more from creating a homey and inviting atmosphere, it’s a dental practice. That’s why Dr. Kami and his staff turned to a residential expert to help make that happen. The project called for all-new cabinetry, lighting, flooring, and electrical throughout the facility—oh, and one more thing: they wanted it ALL done between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Several MN Builders employees left our Christmas Party early to start the job and one week later, Dr. Kami and his staff returned to work to find a new state-of-the-art office for them to call home.
